New Orleans boasts a diverse array of parks and recreational facilities, managed by various organizations dedicated to maintaining and enhancing these public spaces.
The city encompasses numerous parks, playgrounds, and recreational centers. The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORD) manages over 100 parks and facilities across the city. Additionally, the Department of Parks and Parkways oversees approximately 2,000 acres of public green space, including parks, neutral grounds, and historic sites.

This department is responsible for managing, developing, beautifying, preserving, and protecting approximately 2,000 acres of public green space. Their duties include maintaining turf, shrubs, and trees, as well as removing litter from parks, neutral grounds, and select public buildings.New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORD):
NORD manages a wide range of recreational facilities, including playgrounds, recreation centers, swimming pools, and sports complexes. They offer various programs such as athletics, aquatics, cultural activities, and youth programs to promote community engagement and wellness.New Orleans City Park:
Covering approximately 1,300 acres, City Park is one of the nation’s largest urban parks. The City Park Conservancy, a nonprofit organization, oversees the park’s daily operations, programming, fundraising, and membership management. The New Orleans City Park Improvement Association, a state agency, provides oversight and ensures performance management for the park.
These organizations collectively ensure that New Orleans’ parks and recreational facilities are well-maintained and offer diverse programs and amenities for residents and visitors alike.
