Get ready, New Orleans! The much-anticipated Freret Street Festival is back, bringing its unique charm to the vibrant streets of our beloved city on March 29, 2025. From 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Freret Street will buzz with life as it becomes a lively hub stretching from Napoleon Avenue all the way to Valmont Street.
The Freret Street Festival has been a staple since its inception in 2007. Designed to breathe new life into the Freret business corridor, this festival provides a golden opportunity for the community to come together, mingle, enjoy some fantastic music, and, of course, check out the incredible art on display. Whether you’re a longtime local or visiting for the first time, there’s something special waiting for you at every turn.
One of the festival’s standout features is its fantastic musical lineup, which will be showcased over three stages: the Napoleon Stage, Valence Stage, and Valmont Stage. Kicking off the music will be the energetic Dias Brass Band on the Napoleon stage at 11:00 a.m. Meanwhile, music lovers can catch the Loyola Songwriter Showcase on the Valence stage and Minos the Saint on the Valmont stage, both at the same time.
As the day progresses, attendees will be treated to an array of talented musicians. At noon, the Tif Teddy Lamson Duet will take the stage at Napoleon, while Steve Kelly performs at Valmont. Then don’t miss the Loyola Hip Hop Showcase starting just after noon on the Valence stage.
As the clock ticks towards later afternoon, some exciting acts like Isaac Eady will perform at 1:00 p.m. on the Napoleon stage, with Ghalia Volt on the Valmont stage and DIZZY! lighting up the Valence stage at 1:40 p.m.. The music lovers among us won’t want to miss The Creole String Beans, performing at 2:00 p.m. on the Napoleon stage and sticking around for the exciting performances lined up through to the festival’s close.
The final moments of the festival will feature special performances, including Anjelika Jelly Joseph with guest Nigel Hall and John “Papa” Gros closing things off on the Valmont stage.
Best of all, this festival is completely free and family-friendly! With over 200 local artists and chefs showcased, there’s plenty to explore and sample. Six blocks will be alive with exciting art installations and handcrafted goods just waiting to be discovered. If you’re feeling hungry, check out one of the six food courts offering mouth-watering local cuisine that’ll satisfy every palate.
Additionally, the festival promotes community initiatives, including the heartwarming opportunity to adopt pets through Zeus’ Rescues. What better way to give back to the community than by welcoming a furry friend into your home?
The Freret Street Festival is not just an event; it’s a celebration of culture, community, and the spirit of New Orleans. As this spring event draws near, be sure to mark your calendars for March 29, 2025. The Freret Street Festival promises a day of joy, art, food, and music you won’t want to miss!
